MONTESSORI

 

Oatlands Montessori opened its doors to children in September 2007. The aim then, as it is now, is to offer high quality, affordable pre-school education to the families in the Mt. Merrion/Stillorgan community.

​

The Montessori provides a prepared environment where the child is encouraged to grow holistically and explore the world around them. The qualified staff are dedicated to ensuring the wellbeing, care, happiness and education of each child in their care, giving them the confidence and skill to take their next step on their educational journey.

​

Our curriculum is based on the Montessori method which states that each child be allowed to advance at his or her own pace. The materials we offer the children are chosen to stimulate the child’s own natural desire to learn. Creativity and concentration are an important part of the daily work plan along with plenty of outdoor activities. We incorporate the Irish childhood educational elements of Siolta ( www.siolta.ie) and Aistear (www.aistear.ie) into our curriculum

Oatlands Montessori caters for children aged 2 years and 8 months to 5 years. Children can be booked into the Montessori from the September of the year before they are due to start with us. This can be done by filling out the attached Expression of Interest form.

The Montessori is open for 5 days per week from 9.00 am until 12.30pm during school term time. We are part of the ECCE scheme which offers eligible children 3 hours free pre-school each day (9am to 12noon). Parents have the option to leave their child at the service for the final 30 minutes at a small extra charge.

​

We have two Montessori class rooms. Each room is staffed by 2 qualified Childcare Practitioners. One of the classes caters for 20 children and the other 16 children.

​

Oatlands Montessori children have the option to wear the Oatlands Primary School Tracksuit.
