ERST Sports Day 2025
Vision
Promoting full personal and social development in caring Christian communities of learning and teaching.
Mission
To provide Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition.
The Edmund Rice Schools Trust has responsibility for 96 schools, secondary and primary, in the Republic of Ireland. Our schools are dedicated to delivering high standards of excellence in teaching and learning.
Edmund Rice schools cater for young people from a diverse range of backgrounds and have been quick to respond to the emerging needs of students and communities.
Inspired by the five key elements of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter, our schools are responding to a changing world and supporting the leaders of the future to work in partnership, care for the environment, look after themselves and others equally and be inspirational citizens.
The five key elements of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust Charter are:
-
Nurturing faith, Christian spirituality and Gospel-based values;
-
Promoting partnership;
-
Excelling in teaching and learning;
-
Creating a caring school community;
-
Inspiring transformational leadership.
The main object of the Company is to ensure and foster the advancement of education and to further the aims and purposes of Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition in colleges, schools and other educational projects in Ireland owned or operated by the Company in accordance with the religious and education philosophy of the Company as stated in the Edmund Rice School Trust Charter.

This June, the Oatlands ERST student council will host out fellow school student council from Synge Street Primary School in Dublin for a picnic on the Oatlands school grounds. Students can share ideas and share school news in person, rather and on zoom. We look forward to this inter-school collaboration. Thanks to our principal Ms. McDonagh for this great ideas, to host out buddy school this summer!
Thank you as well to Ms B. O'Connell who leads out ERST student council and is always promoting the ERST goals in Oatlands.
We are currently working on gardening best practice, minibeasts and caring for the earth as out common home, which ties in nicely to our Green Schools initiative!
